  12. rem map. GeoClock (TM) 5.0 is (C) 1993 by Joseph R Ahlgren. It is

  144. this information file under MS-DOS and Unix.  It is

  150. Tom's list was periodically posted to comp.sources.wanted,
  151. alt.sources.wanted, comp.misc, and news.answers.  But unfortunately
  152. Tom has been compelled to inform us that he won't have the time to
  153. update his list as of May 1993.  Thus ftp-list.zip is growing
  154. gradually out of date, and cannot eventually be stored any more at
  155. Garbo, unless someone else takes up maitaining it.

  865. The TRICKLE server is a 'concentrator' of FTP sites into central
  866. servers.  Each server has its own (large) cache disk to store files
  867. that have been recently ordered by users, and is in communication
  868. with all other TRICKLE servers about the contents of its cache.
  869. When a user orders a file that is not in local cache, TRICKLE can
  870. usually forward this command to one other TRICKLE server that is
  871. known to hold the file.  In some cases, "broadcasts" to all other
  872. TRICKLEs for this file is necessary, and if the file is new, or
  873. accessed very infrequently, it is requested from one of the 3 FTP
  874. slave-servers it has.  These 3 are special servers who fetch the
  875. file via FTP and send it via NJE to TRICKLE.
  876.  
  877. TRICKLE servers reduce load on FTP sites substantially: Their
  878. incoming-to outgoing file rate is usually 1/5.  Meaning, each cached
  879. file is usually sent out five times during its lifetime in the cache
  880. disk.
  881.  
  882. TRICKLE supports a wide range of delivery methods to the user.
  883. Besides the usual email+(UUE,XXE,BTOA,etc), it can also FTP the
  884. files to the user, or use NJE SENDFILE where possible and desired.
  885.  
  886. It is possible to subscribe to file patterns, such as
  887. <MSDOS.VIRUS>SCAN and to have server deliver you a new copy of the
  888. file each time it is made available.  A special keyword, '*' can be
  889. used instead of the pattern to subscribe to an entire
  890. subdirectories, like: <OS2.NEW>*
